Note: All tickets are going to be around $100. Go anyway.

The Lion King is the best show in town. Great acting, great sets, great songs. Unforgettable.

Hairspray is funny and wonderful. Takes you back to the do-wop Fifties and leaves you there.

Wicked is surprisingly good. Will scare small children into submission.

Tickets:

Broadway.com has tickets to all shows.

Craigslist tickets section has a search window where you can type in the name of the show you're looking for, or the date you have available to see what you might be able to get.

Pro Performance is a ticket broker. Expensive but they can get you what you need.

For most shows, you can go ahead of time (90 minutes for 2 people and 60 minutes for a single) and wait in line for a ticket from people who don't show up. This works more often than not. Also, print out the theater's seating chart and bring it with you to bargain with anyone who might be selling tickets at the door.
